Luke 5:4-5 (NKJV) When He had stopped speaking, He said to
Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon
answered and said to Him, “Master we have toiled all night and caught nothing;
nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
When we have toiled in our own strength and come up empty,
defeated having walked away from our task, do we have the courage to hear the
(rhema) word of the Lord and to once again launch out into the deep. Jesus was
no fisherman; He did not know their trade, yet his commanding voice, the voice
of authority spoke. How often have we denied Christ in our discouragement and
weakened state? How many times have we
retired to washing nets and closed our ears to his majestic command forfeiting
a glorious catch?
Oh God give us ears to hear your voice. Give us courage to
rise and faith to walk in obedience to your rhema word. Forgive us for the
times when we have been content with the mundane washing of nets. Stir our
hearts! Call us once again out into the deep!
